Pulled apart the parking brake boot on my new 1974 Stingray, I’m boiling it. Hopefully the plastic will flatten out and I can glue a backing plate on it so it’ll slide instead of getting all bunched up.

Also, I need to figure out how to tension the parking brake cable....

ALSO, she got rained on today for the first time in the 21st century, she was a bit of a garage queen

You might want to pick up a Corvette restoration guide. Just to have out in the garage to thumb through.

Right now it seems like straightforward stuff...

need to fix the parking brake, new tires, control arm, strut, and sway bar bushings, full fluid change....

Up to you, but having diagrams, torque specs, etc is pretty handy.

let me know how it goes, have to heat gun my bumper (has a dent) and Im curious to see how these old plastics respond to heat.

I alternated boiling it and sticking it under a flat heavy object several times, seems to be much flatter now.

I’m going to find a backing to glue on, it was folded over completely and is nearly broken in one spot

Hopefully since mine had a molded shape to it it will just bounce back. I am doubtful.

Good luck... you might need to remove the bumper so you can get two flat objects and a deep C clamp around it?
